OBITUARY





John Brett, aged about 72 years, and a citizen of this community
before there was any town at Rockdale, died at his home near the
Sap Depot last Wednesday evening after an acute illness of only
a few days, succeeding a decline entered upon several months ago

Deceased was a Confederate veteran, and located in Milam County
shortly after the war.  He settled here and watched the town grow
from the very beginning.  He leaves a widow and three children, all grown, as follows: Miss Mae Brett, Tom and Willis Brett - all of
whom are still under the family rooftree.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon, Rev. B.B. Blaylock, of
the Baptist Curch, officiating, the interment being at the Old City
Cemetery.
