"William Ticknor was born 1620 in Kent, England.Many from Kent came to the colonies in 1646, known as the "Men of Kent."He moved to Scituate, Massachusetts in 1646 and married Hannah Stockbridge in 1656.Took oath of fidelity in 1668.Sergeant in militia.Served in King Philip's War under General Cudworth.Died in Scituate in 1693.Other Men of Kent:Cudworth, Tilden, Stockbridge, Wetherell.Clipper ships built in Scituate.See Deane's History of Scituate."
