Ann Smith (d. 1675)
Notes for Ann Smith:
From Joan S. Guilford, "The Ancestry of Dr. J. P. Guilford, Vol. 1," (1990), pp. 322-323:
"As Guilford (op. cit., p. 43) [appar. Helen Morrill Guilford, "Guilford Genealogy," 1918] says, very little is known of John1 Guilford....
"It is believed that John1 was born about 1625 and married about 1650, Susanna Knowlton, as we have said. His mother died at Hingham, as aforestated, on 7 May 1660 and he died in September.Susanna is also supposed to have died there in 1660, although there seems to be no record.Perhaps it was the same affliction that took all three. It can be guessed that after the children were orphaned, they were raised by their maternal grandmother, Ann (Smith) Knowlton, now remarried to Capt. John Tucker as of June of 1649.Capt. Tucker died in 1661, but Ann survived until 1675, leaving a will that named Paul2 and Susanna2, calling them her grandchildren."
