I am currently researching the immigration of two of my families-the Purman's (latter known as Poorman and currently Buhrman) and Meiklejohn's.John Purman immigrated to the United States around 1767, from Germany. He traveled on a boat named "The Sally," and landed in Philadelphia. The captain of the boats name was Patrick Brown. John settled in Thurmont, MD, near the location of Camp David. William and Jean (Berry) Meiklejohn immigrated to Washington, D.C., from Scotland. Their son Andrew Meiklejohn had a daughter with his first wife, her maiden name was MacDonald. The daughter, Vergie was sent back to Scotland after her mother's death. Family members lost contact with her. I presume that she stayed in Scotland and never moved. She was born prior to 1905. Other names that appear on my tree are Eickman, Baker, Wisner, Stone, Eccard, Flair, and Wolfe.I would like to obtain more information on any of my family names, in particular any information on Vergie Meilkejohn. I would be more than happy to exchange any of my findings as well.
