I am looking for information on a David Cross (possibly Cairncross) who is believed to have served during the Revolutionary War. He is believed to come from Scotland and to have been in Burgoyne's Army from which he deserted while in Worcester, Massachusetts. He then married a Nancy Mulholland who's father could have been a colonel on one side or the other.David had a son named William who married first a Samantha Dibble(?) and then a Waty(?)Ann Newton.
I have been able to trace our family thru a Lockhart W. Brockway of Hinsdale, NH (1880) back to his grandfather Rev. John Brockway of Surry, NH (first Universalist preacher of Surry) who died about 1810. I would appreciate any additional information.
Has anyone heard of the family name of Wisell? I have only been able to go back to Roscoe and his brother Alson (abt 1900) who lived in Vermont. Their sister was a Mrs. Lewis Lapell.
Tinker is another family name I am researching. Particularly a man whose name could be spelled Ormi or Orimi or Onri. He lived in Worthington, Massachusetts. His parents moved to Rochester, Ohio in early 1800s but he remained in Massachusetts.
How about a Noah (or Manoah) Benson who lived and served in the Revolutionary War. His father was a Noah Benson born 1726 in Plainfield (I assume a New England state).
