This is the NYC death certificate of my paternal great-grandfather, Paul Witz. He died of a respiratory ailment (flu leading to pneumonia) at the age of 35 in 1874, after being wounded 12 years earlier in the Civil War. He left a wife (Barbara) who was 8 months pregnant, and 3 children, including my grandfather, Adolph Witz (4 years old).
