Paul Witz Civil War Military Record

Paul Witz Civil War Military Record
This is a copy of a NYS military record of my paternal great-grandfather, Paul Witz. He served in Company C, NY 9th Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Hawkins' Zouaves), USA (Union Army). He was wounded in the foot at the Battle of South Mills (Camden, NC), then went on to fight at Antietam, MD (the bloodiest single day in the history of the US). His regiment sustained the greatest percentage of casualties at Antietam, and moved closer to the Town of Sharpsville than any other Union regiment.
