I am currently researching the family line of John William WOODDY(1803-1867). He was born in Cork County, Ireland, and married Ann Nancy HERRON (1798-1867) in Ireland. They had four children: Mary, who died at age 3 yrs; John William II; Ann Jane; and George Lewellyn WOODDY (1833-1902) who married Alyce Kiziah DAILY (1823-1874), in Jefferson Co., Ky. They had three sons born in Louisville, Ky. (or at least in Jefferson Co., Ky.): William Thomas WOODY (1857-1942), James Anthony WOODY (1860-1937), and John Lewellyn WOODY (1862-1957). Note the difference in spelling of the last name (George Llewellyn's last name was spelled WOODY on his marriage and land records). All three went to Texas in the late 1800's to early 1900's. William Thomas WOODY married Melissa PORTER, daughter of Robert S. PORTER, in 1882,in Owensboro, Ky., left Ky. in about 1893-95, and had 11 children, one of whom was Archie Gilmore WOODY (1889-1969). He was my Grandfather. I have no information farther back than John William WOODDY. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
