THIS PAGE IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION!! I am researching the following families from Italy: Castaldo, Fasulo, Gelini, Mancino, Signore, Cerullo, Di Monaco, Russo, Ventriglia, De Lucia Felice Castaldo, aka Giovanni Gelini, was born in January 29, 1862 in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Caserta, Campania, Italy. He married his first wife, Rosa Romeo on August 4, 1888 in Santa Maria Capua Vetere. They had 3 children, Elisabetta Maria Annunziata Castaldo, born March 10, 1889, Emilia Castaldo, born March 2, 1891, and Giuseppe Castaldo, born February 09, 1894. Felice had at least one brother that came to NY, Giuseppe, born March 29, 1865. Felice was married to Lucia Mancino at that time and they had three children: Lizzie, Mary andGiussepe.Giussepe and Mary came with the family to San Francisco in 1903. I have been unable to find anything else on Lizzie. Possible her name was Elisabetta? Francesco Signore came to New York around 1914. His wife Giovanna Mancino, and 2 children, Luisa, Pasquale first appear on the ship ?? passenger list of 1917. They resided in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island, New York. Andrea came over later. Luisa was born in Santa Maria Capua Vetere. In addition, I'm researching the following surnames from England and Scotland: May and Watson This is a direct quote from Idell Henderson Watson- 1962 "We came to San Francisco the early part of 1900.Orie's first wife was named Jessie.I did not see Violet, his daughter until she was 9 yrs. old. When we first came Violet was just a baby.Your father had Orie's address book from his mother.Francis went to where he lived, and they both came to the hotel where we were staying. He took us to Golden Gate Park.I was surprised because everyone said Orie was as cold as ice.We did not see his wife, we were not asked to go see her. Orie worked for years in the Palace Hotel, and on the Yale and Harvard boats. He was on one when it sank. Also a hotel in Palo Alto, and he wrote and told us he had found a good doctor for your father so he found a house for us, and helped us to get there. He helped all he could but your father was too far gone. After he died, in 1912, Uncle Orie found us a place to live in Daly City.Jack was only 2. Sometimes he brought Violet with him, she was 11 or 12.He helped us until I was able to support you kids.He was a true friend. | |
