2. DANIEL P.² THOMAS (NATHAN¹) was born Abt. 1837 in MS, and died April 11, 1889 in Doniphan Ripley Co. MO (Source: Prospect News Doniphan MO Obiturary.). He met (1) SUSAN C. OR E. AR MS MO William L. wm 8 son AR MS MO Walter L. wm 4 son AR MS MO., (2) Daniel outline.FTW, Date of Import: Jul 21, 2002.) in unknown, daughter of MADISON ROBB and RHODA MCNABB. She was born Abt. 1850 in MO (Source: Daniel outline.FTW, Date of Import: Jul 21, 2002.), and died April 10, 1889 in Doniphan Ripley Co. MO (Source: Daniel outline.FTW, Date of Import: Jul 21, 2002.). He met (2) DELANEY ANN POPE September 09, 1860 in Randolph Co. AR (Source: Marriage Index Randolph Co. AR.), daughter of JOSEPH POPE and ELIZA BRIDGES. She was born Abt. 1846 in Camden Benton Co. TN, and died Abt. 1871 in Randolph Co. AR or Ripley Co. MO.

Notes for DANIEL P. THOMAS:
Daniel came to Randolph Co. AR before 1860 when he married Delaney Ann Pope. He lived in Randolph Co. until about 1875 or 1876. Sometime in this period he either divorced Delaney (she is listed as Deland on the Marriage record book in Randolph Co. AR), or she died. About this time he married Susan C. Robb. They moved to Doniphan and the rest of their children were born there. They both died there just 2 days apart.

Daniel was an educated man as information found in his obiturary in the Prospect News at Doniphan show he was County Assessor for many years and Tax Collector for one term. He is also shown on the School Book record as keeping their finances.

He and Susan patented 40 acres of land in Ripley Co. on May 20, 1882 as shown in the land patent records for MO. Location was Sec. 26 Twp 22N R 3E.

1870 Randolph Co. AR Census
Dwg 134 Little Black Twp. - THOMAS, Dan P. 35 MS, D. A. 23 TN, James A 5 AR, M. E. 3 AR (This POPE line came to Randolph Co. from Benton Co. AR, Delaney's father was Joseph Addison Pope m. Eliza Ann Bridges).

In 1876 a special state Census was done in Ripley Co. On Page 140 Line 163 he is shown as Daniel P. Thomas, reads and writes, owns 1horse, 1mule, 3 sheep, 18 hogs, has 125 bushels of corn, 100 lbs of tobacco, 6lbs of wool, and 26 gal. of molasses.

He is not listed on the Tax Rolls for 1873 but is on page 18 of the 1877 tax rolls. This and Census information narrow down his arrival time in Doniphan at about 1875.

Daniel's obituary in the Prospect News in Doniphan reads as follows. "Ex-Collector Dan P. Thomas died at 1:30 am this morning - held the post of Assessor many years and was collector one term. Had been in failing health for sometime - death hastened by the death a few days ago of his wife. Leaves large family of small children."

Daniel disappears after 1850 but not all of the family detoured to Arkansas just John Thomas the rest went on to Louisiana. Daniel was living with his sister in 1850 and the sister went straight to Texas without stopping in Louisiana.

Susan's obituary in the Prospect News in Doniphan reads as follows. " Mrs. Susan Thomas, wife of D. P. Thomas, died Wednesday, 10 April 1889 at home. Age 40 yrs. Suffered long and painful illness. Buried at family burying ground near Robb Schoolhouse yesterday. Leaves large family of small children.

1876 Ripley Co. Census show Susan's middle initial as E. 1880 Federal Census for Ripley Co., shows her middle initial as C.
