He was born September 24, 1825 in LaPryor MS, and died 1865 in Atascosa Co. TX. She married (2) JOHN STIDHAM January 04, 1876 in Atascosa Co. TX. He was born Abt. 1821 in AL.

2. From Atascosa County History, p223 -

John and Polly Mangum came to Texas about 1852. They settled in Atascosa County near Ditto. He was a freighter and transported salt from Indianola to Kerrville. In 1865 their wagon train was camped for the night on the Frio River near old FrioTown when they were attacked by Apaches. He usually took one of his sons with him when he made a hauling rip. As Indians approached, John told his son to run and hide. Tom sruvived by hiding behind a log and covering himself with leaves, but his father was killed.
