Reference 239: Liber B, Deeds, page 116-B Westchester County, New York: "To all christian people to whom this present deede of sale, shall come, I John HADDEN Senior and Elizabeth my wife, living in the county towne of Westchester in the province of New Yorke sendth greetings in our Lord God, everlasting. Whereas that my son in law George CLEVENGER and Sarah his wife my owne daughter was possessed of five acres of land in the Yonkers plantation in their lifetime, which land did belonge to me the said John HADDEN Senior. Yet nevertheless, they having not confirmed to them by any deeds or writeing as to their owne proper use and behoofes, so as that it might be disposed of but for the better sattisfaction which I shall receive for said land shall be to the only proper use and behoofs of my grandson, John CLEVENGER, the son of George and Sarah CLEVENGER aforesaid. Now know yee that I the said John HADDEN Senior and Elizabeth my wife for valuable consideration to me in hand paid or secured to be paid for the use of the said orphant John CLEVENGER aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and therewith to be fully sattisfied content . . . In witness whereof I the said John HADDEN Senior and Elizabeth my wife hereunto put to our hands and seals this tenth day of February in the third yeare of their Majties Reigne Annog Domi 1691."
