Alexander BINGHAM Family, 1773, Davidson County, TN. It's unknown whether our BINGHAM line originated in Ireland or England. Family lore says the family came from North Carolina and is related to the BINGHAM's or BIGHAM's of Bedford Co.,TN, but no evidence that I know of exists to support this. Many thanks to my cousin Roy BINGHAM who has been working on this line for over fifty years! He deserves credit for the majority of research on this line. My current interest is focused on my Great Great Grandfather's portion of the line. Grundy Alexander BINGHAM, b. 1849 in Hardin County, TN married 1) Mary Elizabeth PARKER, 2)Bettie Ann LANGUELL, and 3) Martha COX or SIMCOX. He also lived in Chester Co., TN and Ripley Co., MO. Variations: BIGHAM, BENGHAM, BINGAM. Related surnames: SPENCER, REEVES, REDDING or REDDIN, BIRMINGHAM, MEEKS. Walter Browne WOODSON Family. This family's paternal lines are through the WOODSON and HALFORD surnames while its maternal lines are through the STEWART and BOSWELL lines. The WOODSON line is from Dr. John WOODSON who emigrated from England to tidewater Virginia in the 1600's. His descendant Edward Alonzo WOODSON of Lynchburg, Virginia is my great-grandfather. His son and my grandfather Walter Browne WOODSON was FDR's naval aide in the early years of World War II. Walter Browne WOODSON was married to Ruth HALFORD, daughter of the journalist Albert James HALFORD of Indianapolis who founded the Congressional Record. Albert was the younger brother of Elijah HALFORD who also a journalist who served as Private Secretary to President Benjamin Harrison. Elijah was born in Nottingham, England and emigrated with his family to Hamilton, Ohio in 1848. The STEWART line is currently a brick wall. My grandfather was William Angelus STEWART of Washington, DC. His father was Walter McClellan STEWART who may have been born in that same city in the 1860's, one of several children of a George STEWART. William STEWART married Marguerite BOSWELL of Washington, DC, one of several children of Ceylon Matthew BOSWELL.
