Aka Hans Jürg Rüger, George Rieger, Georg Rüx. Born probably in Europe in either May or June 1682, if his advanced age at death is accepted. According to the History of Lehigh County George was born in Germany in 1682. Hans Rüger apparently
arrived at the port of Philadelphia before the systematic recording of ship manifests. He is first recorded 10 June 1720 when he purchased from Claus Braun 27 acres on the road leading from Philadelphia to North Wales (now Germantown Avenue at
Chestnut Hill). "Georg Rüger" appeared at Philadelphia Court 17 August 1728 and swore that he witnessed Pastor Anthony Jacob Henkel's nuncupative will on 12 August 1728. On 8 June 1729 he purchased 60 acres in Philadelphia County from William
Harmer. On 16 December 1733 Barbara Rueger and Christoph Ottinger stood as sponsors at the baptism of Margaretha Barbara, daughter of Leonhardt Kueffer. On 22 December 1739 Georg was granted a patent for 400 acres on a branch of Trout Creek
in Heidelberg Township, Bucks (now Lehigh) County. On 16 September 1743 he bought 11 acres adjoining his homestead (at Chestnut Hill) from Bernhard Kepler, and in 1743 he purchased 50 acres in Springfield, Philadelphia (now Montgomery) County
from the estate of Herman Grotehause. In 1746, Georg and Barbara Rieger had a son baptized at St. Michael's Church, where on 12 April 1747, Jürg and Barbara Rieger sponsored the baptism of Rahel, daughter of Herman and Maria Grothausen. On 16
December 1749 he was granted a patent for 152 acres in Heidelberg Township (in present Lehigh County).

On 20 December 1749 Georg Rüger and Barbara (X) Rex conveyed 276 acres in Heidelberg Township to their son Georg, and 276 acres in the same township to their son Jacob. This is the last record of Barbara Rex. By indenture (apparently in lieu
of a will) dated 29 October 1762, Georg Rüx, of Germantwon Township, yeoman, conveyed his entire personal and real estate to his sons George, William, Jacob, Christopher, John and Abraham Rex. He signed his name Georg Ruger on the receipt for
5 shillings.

George was a blacksmith
