File on James Anderson:
James Anderson - Capt. of the Cavalry of the Corp of Post (Past) Tenn. Volunteers, in the campaign against the Creek Nation. He was Capt. in the Company commanded by himself. James Anderson's superior officer was James P. H. Porter. James Anderson volunteered in Knoxville, Tn on Sept. 23, 1813, and was honorably discharged at Knoxville on Dec. 23, (03) 1813.
He made application for a bounty of land under the Act. of Sept. 1850, and evidently received 40 acres. (Warrant No. 16,656 on 3/25/1851).He made application for an additional 120 acres under the Act of March 1885 - which he evidently received (Warrant No. 43, 483)
The last "Bounty" seemed to have been lost, strayed, or stolen - for some reason the paper was said to have been addressed to Horace Maynard. Maynard evidently found it. He wrote a letter to the Commissioner of Patents on March 24, 1856.Gen. Minot, No 43483, for 120 acres - Act of March 1855.
