I am researching the Wright family from Chance, Alabama, USA. Elias Wright first appears in my research in North Carolina, I beleave he was from Scottland before that. He was born about 1813 and married Gatsey Meddlin born Abt 1814 who was 1/2 Cherokee. He left her for another Native American Girl and as the hand-me-down story goes Gatsey took the children all her belongings with two barrels of money out of NC to Chance,Clarke County, Alabama, near where the Cane Creek School was later built. |
