Descendants of James Willis Roberts and Eva Jane Parrish

I remember Papa. I remember making those trips to Oil Center Oklahoma in the 1950s. I remember sleeping out in the orchard when it was too hot to sleep inside on those long summer nights. I remember Papa driving all the way to Ada to buy my sister and me each a bag of pink and white snow ball cupcakes and then driving all the way back again to buy me another bag full after I dropped mine in the red Oklahoma dirt that surrounded his house on that endless Oklahoma prairie. I remember Aunt Minnie's banana cake, fried chicken, cornbread and gravy when we would go to visit her across the road from Papa's house. I remember Uncle Frank and his quiet ways. I remember the smell of natural gas burning off the pipe next to Coker Well #2 and I remember the sound of the pump click clacking all day and all night. It was a comforting sound like that of a distant train. Mammie died before I was born but i still remember Mammie in the way that her children's and grandchildren's voices got soft when they spoke of her. I remember her in the way Papa always wished Evie was here.
I wish they were all still here too.
