I am researching the WRIGHT family. The most distant relative is a Jonathon Wright, b. Aug 10, 1748 d. Sep 11, 1821. He had twelve children, and his son Daniel Wright b. Jun 8, 1797 d. Apr 2, 1866 is my direct line relative. It is believed that Jonathon Wright and family originally located in South Carolina. To remain neutral during the Revolutionary War, the family moved to Nova Scotia, Canada and remained there until the defeat of the English. After the War, the family moved to either Connecticut or New York. The WRIGHT name appeared in some records of New Milford Township, Litchfield County, Connecticut at some time after the Revolution. The Wright family appears to have moved to Hancock County, Ohio somewhere around to time of the Civil War. I have some history from the time in Hancock County until the present time. I would appreciate any information on the WRIGHT family prior to migrating to North America from possibly Ireland. I will be more than happy to share any information I have. |
