Current research focuses on the parents of REV. ISAAC J.WRIGHT.

Rev. Wright was born in Indiana in 1819. He married Rhoda Toney in 1842 in Preble County, Ohio, which is on the border of Ohio and Indiana. The Toney family is well documented and family records mention Isaac and Rhoda's family. During the the remainder of the 1840's they lived in Ohio (possibly Gasper Twp., Preble County). Rhoda had two children while they were in Ohio, William T.Wright (March 11, 1843-April 9, 1871) and Melinda Wright 1848. The family left Ohio about 1849, probably with the intent on moving to Southern Wisconsin. On the way they stayed somewhere in Illinios, where Rhoda gave birth to a third child, Isaac Jesse Wright (August 2, 1850-November 24, 1871). It appears Rhoda died giving birth to Isaac Jesse. After Rhoda's Isaac Sr. moved on to Port Andrew Richland County with the children. His life in Richwood Twp, Richland County, WI is well documented in the "History of Crawford and Richland Counties Wisconsin".

In about 1856 he married Sarah Catherine Miller, daugther of Henry and Margaret (Sharp) Miller. Sarah had been married before to a Joseph David. The 1860 Federal Census shows another child living with Isaac by the name of Martha (b. 1856). It is not known if Martha belonged to Isaac or Joseph David. Sarah died giving birth to John Calvin Wright in 1859, the same year her father, Henry Miller, died. The Civil war broke out and Isaac Sr. joined the Union Army as a 2nd lieutenant in the 11th Wisconsin Infantry on Octonber 24, 1861. He resigned from the army June 18, 1892. His eldest son William enlisted in Co. B, 25th Regiment and became somewhat of a hero and having the GAR meeting hall in Exselsior, WI named after him.

At the time Isaac joined the Union Army he had just spent four years clearing his farm on Bird Creek in Richwood Twp. He was recently widowed with five children in one of the most frontier parts of Wisconsin. It is known that he was a circuit minister in the United Brethern Church. It was a significant sacrafice for him to enlist and he must have deeply believed in the cause.
