The earliest Wright ancestor we are aware of is Paul Wright, married to Mary Taylor; they were living in Prince Edward County when their first son, Robert William Wright, was born on May 10, 1807. We cannot find a port of entry for Paul or his nationality. Although Robert spent his life in Canada, and died in Picton, Prince Edward County, Ontario,on December 17, 1898, we cannot identify what happened to Paul and Mary.
We are aware of only one other child of Paul and Mary, Christiana Wright - she was born December 28,1815 and died November 17, 1901 in Fordwych, Ontario. She was married to Jonathon Dulmage who was also from Prince Edward County. They had 10 children.
There were probably other siblings, children of Paul and Mary but we have been unable to locate them. The only known descendant of this family still living in Prince Edward County is Susan Hughes.
My search for the descendants of Paul and Mary Wright has been quite successful and I have identified hundreds of people spread acoss Canada and many parts of the United States.
My Mother's maiden name was Hughes. She emigrated to Canada in 1912. She had lived in Liverpool prior to leaving the Old Country but, was born in Rhyl, North Wales, and received her early education in that town. Her Father was Richard Thomas Hughes and her Mother was Elizabeth Williams, both born in North Wales.
My Father's Mother was Nina Etta Johns and we now have her descendants traced back to the 1600's in Buckland Brewer in North Devon, England.
