According to "Many Masks, A Life of Frank Lloyd Wright, p. 23:
" ... the son (Frank Lloyd Wright) gets his father's name wrong, calling him William Russell Carey Wright; there was no "Russell" in his name. (The mistake may have arisen as an echo of a family tradition to the effect that the Wrights were related to James Russell Lowell, which it appears they were not. The mistake could also have arisen from the fact that William had a brother named Russell.) The autobiography states that the father came from Hartford, Connecticut, implying that he was born there; in fact, he was born in Westfield, Massachusetts, in 1825, at a time when his father , the Reverend David Wright, was serving as a Baptist minister in that community, and he was named after the celebrated missionary to Indian, William Carey ... David Wright was later called to preach in Hartford, where he spent the rest of his life and where William spent a portion of his youth and early manhood. David Wright lived to the sufficiently remarkable age of ninety-three ..."
