My current family research is focused on my Wright line. This family line supposedly originated from Howden, East Riding, Yorkshire, England. Though I have not seen enough evidence yet to convince me of this beyond doubt. I do have enough evidence to trace my Wright line back to west New Jersey starting with Richard Wright (1804-1853) who married Elizabeth Gough (1808-1867), she was born in England. They left New Jersey in the early 1830's moving west, stopping in Ohio and then Iowa for awhile before settling in Clark Co., Missouri. Richard had a son named William Edward (1837-1885) who had a son named Edward Elsworth (1867-1920), both of whom lived in Clark Co., Missouri. Edward's son, Wynford Wayne Wright (1907-1980), my grandfather, eventually left Clark Co., Missouri and moved to Quincy, Illinois where my father was born, Robert Gene Wright (1938-1998). I am currently working on finding evidence to connect Richard Wright (1804-1853) to who I think was his father, Thomas Wright (1770-1839) of Long-a-Coming (Berlin), New Jersey. Other surnames in my family tree are Adams, Bell, Cameron, Carrico, Hidy, Inskeep, the Key family (of Monroe Co., Missouri), Luckett, McClain, and Paschal. I still have lots of detailed information that I have not entered into my Family Treemaker database. I will be updating this site periodically. Thanks for stopping by! |
