| I am researching the DIXON/DICKSON families of Edgecombe Co., NC. & Isle of Wight Co., VA. My earliest proven ancestor is Thomas Dixon, Sr. who d: 1790. I am trying to prove he was the grandson of Thomas Dixon who d: c1749 in Isle of Wight, VA. The given names of Thomas and Nicholas are repeated through many generations in this family. Thomas Dixon, Jr. married Sarah HICKMAN SELLERS 5 Jun 1763 in Edgecombe Co., NC. Sarah was the daughter of Nathaniel Hickman, Sr. and his wife Sarah. Their son Hickman Dixon is my ancestor. Hickman left Edgecombe Co., NC c1804/06 with his wife and children and moved into Warren Co., GA. Nicholas Dixon, Hickman's brother, lived in Putnam Co., GA. as early as the 1790's. Researching these Warren & Glascock Co., GA families: BROOKS, BRYANT, LOGUE, MCNAIR, MCNEIL, MORGAN, MURRAY, PURVIS, STORY, USRY/USSERY, VAUSE, WALDEN, WILCHER and WILSON. McDuffie Co., GA - My Story family was living in that part of Glascock Co. that became part of McDuffie Co. when McDuffie Co. was formed.
