RYANT SPENCER RUTLEDGE:
Bryant S. was 23 when he married Eliza, she was 21. When he was 29 years old he received 160 acres in the Cherokee Land Lottery of 1838 on the first day of January 1838. [ Listed in the Georgia Cherokee Land Lottery of 1838 page 282, Fourth District, Second Section, Cherokee, Bryan S. Rutledge, Say's, Dekalb, Garnter the previous to the first day of January, 1838.] This land lies in Walker Co., GA where he farmed this land.

Listed in the 1850 Census of Walker County, Ga. living in the Taylors Ridge District.
Listed in the 1860 Census of Chattooga County, Ga. page 586.
The History of Walker County, page 384 list Bryan S. Rutledge as an early member of Church of Christ or Christian called Philadelphia.

Patricia S. Gray has the Bryant S. Rutledge family Bible. The bible was given to Pat by her grandfather James Leonard Burnett. The births of Mary Elizabeth, Armendy and Frances are not listed in the bible. The marriage date of Bryant and Eliza Williams is in the family bible.

  Notes for JOHN H. RUTLEDGE:
He was wounded at Fredericks burg, Virginia on December 13, 1862. He died in Richmond, Virginia on June 18, 1864 and is buried in Hollywood Cemetery. [ From Roster of the Confederate Soldiers of Georgia 1861-1865, Volume 6, page 148].

John H. Rutledge enlisted on March 1, 1862of the 60th Georgia infantry that was formed in the spring of 1862 as part of a new brigade of elite Georgia troops being raised for the service in Virginia.
