Joseph S. was the 1st child of Bryant S. He was born November 12, 1832 in Dekalb Co., GA. Married Amanda Clementine Hairston, daughter of William Judge Hairston of the Boboshelah Plantation of Dekalb Co., GA. She was born August 25, 1834. They married in 1859 and had 7 children.
