| The Yaws are relatively few, generally located in Southeast Texas, Oregon, and California. There must be links between these families. Too, we are seeking to identify a link with the Yaw families that are far greater in number. Other soundex possibilities exit Yoes, Yawes, Joyce, Youse, etc. Verbal history says the family in the United States began with the immigration of 3 brothers from Wales. This same story comes from branchs of the family previously unknown to each other. The story goes that they arrived in this country through New Orleans -- then two of the brothers returned home. Richard Yaw is listed in Louisiana in the early 1800s, but the trail dies at that point. Most recently we have found listings of Yaws in the United Kingdom in the early records. Work to be done! The Adams line is well documented to Nathan Adams of Virginia in 1736. We are satisfied with that line. The Yaws/Adams link occured with the marriage of Charlie Herman Yaws and Martha Mary Adams at Gonzales, Texas October 1, 1924. The Sims and O'Rear family lines are yet to be developed. Both of these families were in the North Texas area, just South of Amarillo. Some Sims migrated to New Mexico and California. The Grandfather was John Presley Sims who married Mary Elizabeth Mangum abt 1186. The children of John Presley and Mary Elizabeth included Andrew Lee Sims who married Ava Leona O'Rear on November 11, 1919. Their children included Ben Hollis Sims, Mattie Lee Sims, and Lillie Fay Sims. Mattie Lee married Charles H. Yaws January 11, 1947. Any help is appreciated, we will happily share information. |
