Elbert served in the Civil War on the Confedrate side. Co.C/G, 63rd VA Inf. He enlisted 4-6-1862 at Moccisan Gap, Due 50.00 bounty. Transfered to Co.G, 1-17-1863, deserted 5-2-1863, returned in arrest 11-15-1863, courtmartial found him guilty of desertion.Deserted or escaped from the brig. He had served in the Grayson Co. Militia. Born Ashe Co. N.C. 1832 Farmer age 28, 1870 Grayson Co. Census.

Notes for CYNTHIA ELLEN DAVIS:
Cynthia filed for divorce on the grounds of Adultery, It went to court on September 9, 1880. She got full custody of the two children. The charge of adultery was fully proven, He had to pay court costs. The divorce records are hard to read. They were found in the Grayson Co. Va. court house.
