Beth Hammond Yonson Family Home Page
I am researching the following surnames: Hammond, Brown, Bateman/Batman/Badman, Miller, Diggin, Doolan, Raney, Hayes, Bono, Greco, Milito, Ampolo, Raso, & Russo families.John Hammond was born in Ireland in 1839 - 1841. He came to USA in 1852, probably Philadelphia. The first record I have of him is when he marries Mary Brown on January 29, 1864 at St. George's Methodist Episcopol Church in Philadelphia, PA. They reside at Stamper's Alley in Philadelphia. They are listed in the 1870 census in Norristown, PA. In the 1880 census, they live in Plymouth Township, PA. Their oldest son, Henry, is my great grandfather. His mother, Mary Brown died on June 20, 1886 in Norristown, PA. John Hammond, his father, died on June 15, 1904 in Conshohocken, PA. They had 6 children: Henry, Charles, Sarah Powers, Frances Minnis, Robert, and Elizabeth Rupp McCarter. The census lists Mary Brown and her parents as being born in PA. It lists John Hammond and his parents as being born in Ireland. The 1880 census lists a Pat Hammond and his wife, Kate, and children also living in Plymouth Township (possibly a brother).John Batman (Badman) was born in 1826-27. He died on October 11, 1881 in Norristown, PA. John was married to Mary P. Miller, who was born in 1830-31. Her father's name was George Miller. She died on November 19, 1908 in Norristown, PA. John's parents were Philip Badman and Catherine (Kate). Philip died on December 15, 1880 and Kate died on September 3, 1876. Both died in Norristown. Philip was born around 1793. Catherine was born on September 17, probably 1797. Catherine may have been born in England. Philip's and John's families are found in the 1850 census in Norristown, PA. It lists them both as carpenters. In the 1830 census a Philip Badman and Joseph Badman and their families are listed as living in New Hanover Township, PA. I believe this is the same Philip mentioned previously. Joseph is probably his father. The 1820 census lists Philip living in Frederick Township, PA and Joseph living in Douglas Township.John Badman and Mary Miller had a son Phillip Henry Bateman. Phillip was born on March 29, 1858 (61). He married Catherine Eleanor Raney. Catherine was born on August 23, 1861 in PA. Her parents were Thomas Raney and Elizabeth Hayes who were born in Ireland. Catherine died on April 1, 1948 in Norristown, PA. Catherine was a widow when Phillip married her. Her first husband's last name was Loughlin and she had a daughter, Catherine. Phillip and Catherine had 6 children. Elizabeth (Bessie) is my grandmother. She married my grandfather, John Hammond, who was born on October 27, 1892 in Bridgeport, PA. They were married on October 28, 1912 in Norristown, PA.Patrick Diggin was born in Ireland in 1845. He died on February 25, 1917 in Bridgeport, PA. His first wife Ellen Doolan died giving birth to my great grandmother Mary Ann Diggin. I believe Mary was born in Ireland but she could have been born in Chester County, PA on March 1, 1867. Mary was married to Henry Hammond. She died on December 17, 1944. Mary was raised by her step-mother, Bridget Conner(s). I am also looking for information on the maternal side of my family. All of my mother's family came from Sciacca, Sicily. My grandmother, Eleanor Greco's parents were Paolo Greco who was born in 1871 ( his parents were Giuseppe and Leonarda Greco) & Giacoma (Agnes) Milito. They were married on January 29, 1899 in Norristown, PA. Giacoma's parents were Michangelo Milito and Rosa Bono.My grandfather, Michael Bono, was born on August 1, 1897 and died in 1980. His parents were Stefano Bono, born in 1867 and died in 1949, and Elisabetta Raso(Rosso), who died in 1950. Stefano's parents were Michangelo Bono and Guyatano Ampolo.Elisabetta's parents were Charles Raso and Theresa Russo.I would appreciate any information on the above names. |
