2. WILLIAM⁴ WARREN (ROBERT³, ARGOLL², HENRY¹) was born Abt. 1770 in Va. He married MARY FOX.

Notes for WILLIAM WARREN:
William moved with his parents to North Carolina from Virginia. He was an
infant at that time. At the age of 10, he assisted his father and surveyor
Christopher Beekman.
He was quite literate and well respected. He performed many civic duties,
including membership on a committee in the late 1790's to build the first road
through the area.
He bought and sold many tracts of land during his life. The 1800 tax list
lists William as having 2 houses on 100 acres.
William and his wife had at least 8 sons and 4 daughters, but no proven
list of children. The 1790 census has him as married with 3 small sons.
According to a book published in 1888 in Chicago, William lived to be 110
years of age. He was very spry in his old age and could read without glasses
after the age of 100.

Notes for MARY FOX:
Although the parentage of Mary Fox is unknown, it is almost certain she is
descended from the Fox family of Alexander County, NC.
The first Fox, Hugh Fox, Sr. was first mentioned in Burke County records
28 July 1778 as having land on Upper Little River on the north fork or second
fork of said river, up both sides of the creek crossing the wagon road that
leads from the lower creek by the Mineral Spring. A neighbor was Robert
Warren. He later purchased more land in the area.

3. ROBERT⁴ WARREN (ROBERT³, ARGOLL², HENRY¹) was born Abt. 1786. He married CATHERINE TROUTMAN.

Notes for ROBERT WARREN:
Robert lived most of his life in what is now Alexander County. He had
fewer children; confirmed is one daughter, Sarah.
The 1860 census lists him as a farmer, age 74; personal worth, $56; real
estate, $18.
