|Welcome to our familys' genealogy home page. When my father, Arthur Carlise Young, passed away in 1988, I picked up his research and began organizing and collecting more information. His extensive work, with vast contributions by his mother, Greta Dorothy Heun-Young, and my mother, Frances Ruth Ford-Young, made my continued research easier.I also hit the jackpot when my wife, Pam, and I went on a research trip to California, Kentucky. As soon as we entered the City of California I passed a mail box with the name YOUNG on it. I said "This is too good to be true", locked down the brakes, backed up, and turned up the driveway where I saw an elderly lady and two young boys on the front pourch.
I got out of the car and walked up to the porch. The lady said "can I help you?". I said "I hope so. My last name is Young, and if your name is Young we might be related." She introduced herself as Leola Young the wife of the late Clyde Berton Young (1898-1965). She invited me to sit down and show her my information.
As luck would have it, she too was a Young Family Genealogist, and it took less than two minutes for her to confirm our relationship, although distant. Leola Young is the wife of my second cousin twice removed and the boys were her grandchildren.
It was her records that opened my Young Family Tree several more generations. Further, she directed me to several cemeteries were I located the graves and headstones that confirmed and expanded my existing information. At the cemeteries I copied and Pam photographed the headstones of evey stone with the Young and relatives names.
Up to that day I had no knowledge of any living relatives in the Young line other than my mother, sister, children, and grandchildren. What Luck!
The Young family most recently from Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia with the line extending back to Covington & California, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Dundee, Scottland.
My Current information and record search is on Archibald Young born in Dundee Scottland, who married Martha Drennon on January 26, 1707/08. Their son, Archibald Young married Elizabeth McMurds in in 1729 (Elizabeth McMurds parents were Andrew McMurds and Margaret Hansford). Their son Joseph Young married Hannah McCraney in 1764. Their children were Robert Young (born 3-4-1751/52 in Prince William County, Virginia, died 1809 at Mayesville, Mason County, Kentucky, who maried Judith Heath Tebbs on 5-18-1780 in Prince William County, Virginia), Thomas Young (born 12-23-1757, died 4-22-1837 at Mayesville, Mason County, Kentucky, who married Margaret Brent), Mary Haddon Young (born 1-30-1759 in Virginia), John Young (born 11-15-1760 in Virginia, died in Jefferson County, Kentucky, who married Nancy Raymond in North Carolina), Tabitha Young (born 10-29-1763), and Hannah Ann Young (born 8-30-1765 in Pennsylvania)
My wife, Pamela Carol Pistole-Young, is also collecting information on her family tree. This research is on the Pistole and Green(e) lines from McMinnville, Warren County, Tennessee.
Pam and I will gladly share information on these lines. We participate in the Family Tree Maker "World Family Tree Project". Please contact us if you locate errors in our information, or if you have information to contribute to our trees. Our goal is accurate information!
Good luck shaking your relatives and skeletons out of the trees.
Within an hour of posting this page I began a search for the Heun name on the FTM search engine. I saw two postings regarding my greataunt Clara DeSaldern Heun from Nancy S. Frank. She also has information on another line of my tree. Another lucky day!
