Peter Moelich (b. 1500)
Notes for Peter Moelich:
The Moelich family originated in Germany and still exists in that country, there being representatives in Frankfurt on the Main, Bendorf on the Rhine and in Winningen on the Moselle.
A tradition exists that the name came down through the centuries, that the first Moelich in Germany was a migrator from Greece, and that the word or one approching it in ancient Greece stands for lyric verse. The name then may have been Malik or Malic as both are used in Greece and in America.
In America the descendents of the immigrant ancestors Moelich, pronouce the name and spell it many ways -- Malick, Meligh, Mehligm, Melich and Mellick.
