  Nelson McGhee was born about 1793. His place of birth and parentage are unknown. He died in 1850 and was buried in Franklin County, Virginia. Nelson settled in Franklin County, Virginia after 1807. He married Martha Cooper in 1814 and she died about 1830/1831. Nelson married second Sussannah Richards in 1831.
