Greetings:I have been researching my family roots for over two years now. What I have is listed below.
FATHER'S [ZASTOWNEY] ROOTS: In researching my father's genealogy, I am interested in many different surnames. Primarily, my father's background uses the surname ZASTOWNEY although earlier documents found have it spelled ZASTAUNY, ZASTAWNY, and ZASTOWNY.
Having reviewed research concerning Ukrainian (Galician) surnames, the "WNEY" ending is quite unusual, therefore variations in spelling apart from ZASTOWNEY may be somewhat related. My grandmother's name was ANNA RYPECKA. My grandfather's was ONUFRY ZASTAUNY, also from the Galician territory in Poland/Ukraine. Both grandparents emigrated and settled in McKees Rocks, PA in 1912 and 1914 respectively.
MOTHER'S [TATEM] ROOTS: In researching my mother's roots, the surnames in which I am most interested are TATEM, McGARRY, AN, WILSON. I have researched the censuses and have found that TATEM originated as farmers in Deptford, NJ. I've found the following:
Kesiah Tatem (b:about 1805 whose married name is Tatem) begat Joseph Tatem who married Jane ? (immigrant from Ireland) and begat Jennifer Tatem (youngest of 4, three older brothers) who married ? McGarry and begat Alice and Catherine McGarry Catherine married Howard Edward Wilson, they had six children together. My mother, Joan Burnadette, was the next to the youngest of the six. She passed away January 5, 1999.
If, regarding the TATEM family, you have a link, please contact me, we can pursue a dialog which, given first names and partial dates I possess, might make a connection.
Thank you in advance, John P. Zastowney
