I received August's Death Certificate from the State of Michigan Vital Statistics. He died of mitral insufficiency. There was a note along the side that the doctor had not attended August before death and that he was dead when the doctor arrived at the house.
August Esch owned the Philbrick Tavern in Farmington MI for a couple of years. It is a famous landmark and it is said that it served as part of the Underground Railway. According to my mother, Dorothy, her grandfather had a good potato crop one year so he was able to buy this mansion!
