The (Jack) John E. Zeigler, Jr. family of League City, Texas

Updated February 15, 2007

I am a descendant of Hans Georg Ziegler b. 1622, Weiler, Baden, Germany. The family migrated to the Port of Philidelphia in the early 1700s, bought land from the Indians, helped found the German Lutheran Church called the Ziegler church yet today, fought in the Revolutionary War and my branch migated to Illinois, Indianna, and Kansas. My grandmother Zeigler, Laura Bell Morris, was the daughter of Issac Morris and Sarah Smith. They moved from Ill. to Ks. between 1877 and 1891. Their unnamed parents were from Kentucky according to the 1900 census records.I am looking for Confederate relatives.

My Mother was a decendant of Josh Krehbiel b. 1650 in Switzerland. Being Mennonites, the family fled persicution to the United States through Germany, Austria and Russia. My great grandfather Krehbiel came to New York and went to Kansas via So. Dakota. My grandmother, Carrie Schwartz, also came from Mennonite stock. Many of the Krehbiels and Mennonite families that have stayed together over the years still live in Pretty Prairie, Kansas
