Several years ago I stared researching and documenting my family tree. It started out as a project to work on with my grandmother and a way to fine tune my research skills. Since then it has accumilated into nearly 3,700 names. Some of the names of family branches include: Ahlquist, Ahrens, Anderson, Bargender, Bauman(n), Bedynek, Beneditz, Bungert, Buttalla, Cera, Corda, Ellenbecker, Elliott, Fischer, Fleischman, Gratwohl, Gribowski, Gruetzmacher, Hoffman, Jakubiak, Karlen, Koenig, Kraft, Krause, Lang, Leiterman, Loerke, Luetschwager, Marquardt, Morman, Myska, Napierala, Pokszywinski, Pophal, Ruplinger, Rusch, Sazama, Schilling, Schultz, Siepold, Socha, Staszak, Steinberg, Strasser, Stumm, Szulc, Weisenberger, Wendorf, Wilichowski, Ziebell, Zietlow and so many more. Most of the branches are from Prussia (what is now Poland andGermany), though others come from other countries. Most come to the United States to try to make a better life for their families, while others came to avoid military service, or avoid family shame. All of them have their own story to share. Most of the family settled in the central Wisconsin region, however there were still members or various branches that spanned the entire United States. At the moment I am working heavily on two branches of my family, the Schilling branch of the family and the Krahn/Ahrens/Zietlow.The Schilling family was in Wisconsin as early as 1830.The family settled in the Sherwood and High Cliff areas of Calumet County, Wisconsin. Some descendants of the family settled in Appleton and other areas of Outagamie County.another branch settled in the Marathon area of Marathon County and further branched out towards Edgar, Wausau, Athens, Colby, Omoro,Stratford and Marshfield areas. The Krahn/Ahrens/Zietlow family ha been a recent addition to the Wisconsin area. The Zietlow family purchased a farm just north east of Edgar about 1900.The Krahn and Ahrens families were in the Marathon and Wausau area.Recently, I recieved a large amount of old photos from my grandmother and I am currentky working on cataloging and identifying to photos. Any person who is interested in any of the above names, please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to share any information that I can. Also if you have any information or questions about any of the photos featured on this page please let me know. I welcome anyone to search the tree to look for names or information. I have listed only my direct ancesters, though I have excluded the decendants for many of the branches (partially because there is not enough space to do so).I do have information on many decendant trees, and if anyone out there feels that I may have information that may be of use please contact me. I am always updating the tree and I always welcome questions as well as corrections or additions. Also, for anyone out there who is interested, I do a great deal of Marathon County genealogy searches as well Portage County genealogy and I am available for Wood County genealogy searches.I am available to do searches for other individuals if they are unable to get to the various records offices. I do ask for reimbursement for the cost of duplicates of records and charge $10.00 per hour for extensive searches. If you are interested, or have any questions please contact me by mail or by E-mail (with the heading "Family Search Request"). Best of luck in all your searches. Amber Zietlow |
