Robert contributed to the Revolutionary War effort with goods & sundries to the State Militia and Continental Line. The publication Virginia 'Publick' Claims: Goochland County, Transcribed by Janice L. Abercrombie & Richard Slatten from the original Revolutionary Claims at the Library of Virginia & published by Iberian Publishing Co. of Athens, GA reports the following:
Pg. 2, A Court of Publick Claims held for Goochland County 19 March 1782...the Continent & the State of
Virginia are made Dr. to Sundry persons for the following articles Viz: Robert Poor for 1570# beef L8-
1-6 State. [value of 8 pounds-1shilling-6 pence to State Militia]
Pg. 20: 70 bu oats per. cert. Robt. Poor L7 [value of 7 pounds].
Pg. 37, Goochland Lists III, Return of cattle received by Jolly Parrish D. Com. Gooch. Co. for March &
April 1781: Robert Poore 2.

In the 1773 Will of David Walker (Sr.), father-in-law of Robert, Robert is named as one of the Executors to the Estate. He and wife Judith, daughter of David Walker (Sr.), are given:
"I give to my daughter Judith Poor, twenty pounds, allowed to her out of the thirty pounds already paid to her husband Robert Poor, ye remaining balance of ten pounds, I give to ye said Robert Poor, in consideratio[sic] of trouble he may be at as one of my executors."

From 1755-1784 Robert served St. James Parish, Goochland, Virginia as a processioner of land boundaries. Found in the St. James Northam Parish Vestry Book 1744-1850 are the following entries:
Vestry Entry: 13 Oct 1755, Pg. 23: "Robert Poor and Constant Perkins, Jr. ..Begin at Small Road called Harris' Road, to three Chopt Road, to the County Line, to Meadey Creek and to Curds Bridge."
Vestry Entry: 22 Oct 1759, Pg. 34: "Landi Richardson and John Curd lands that Robert Poor and Constant Perkins did in 1755."
Vestry Entry: 26 Feb 1764, Pg. 41: "Richard Oglesby and Robert Poor ... to Curd's Bridge."
Vestry Entry: 31 Aug 1767, Pg. 47: "Richard Curd and William Isbell where Richard Oglesby and Robert Poor did in 1764."
Vestry Entry: 30 Nov 1775 Processioners for 1775/1776, Pg. 63: "Robert Poor and John Lewis."
Vestry Entry: 16 Feb 1784, Pg. 78: "Robert Poor and Nathaniel Raine land last done by James Maddox and James George."
