Welcome to our family chronicles. Following are the family groups currently being researched, beginning with the ancestry of our father Raymond Heinrich Ziemer:

ZIEMER/BONOW -- Martin G. ZIEMER, his wife Caroline BONOW, and their children, emigrated from Pomerania, that Baltic province of Prussia, about 1882, along with others of the BONOW family. They settled near the railroad yards of Chicago's South Side.

HEINRICH/ROLOFF -- From East Prussia came Friedrich HEINRICH, his mother Louise HARDT, and members of the GERGOLLA family. Fritz came to Chicago with the family of his love Theresa ROLOFF, daughter of Karl Albert ROLOFF and Augusta BAER, who went on to homestead in the Dakota Territory.

Our maternal ancestry stems from opposite ends of Europe:

OLSON/BREDBERG -- Three of the children of Ole MAGNUSSON, including 16-year-old Johann August OLSON in 1887, left the rocky Swedish isle of Oland for the U.S.A. While he toiled in Chicago in 1893, John's future bride, Mathilda BREDBERG, was bidding farewell to the green fields of Vastergotland, Sweden, and heading for the Southeast Side as well.
RADEK/RADOVAN -- Last of our immigrant ancestors, Maria RADEK RADOVAN brought her two sons from the Slovene hills and vineyards of the Austrian Empire and settled like the other key players in our particular family drama, on the stage of the South Side of Chicago.

Please check back -- the site is under construction and, of course, the story continues. By all means contact Raymond G. Ziemer with question, corrections, and additional connections.
