I am researching the Zimmerer family tree. Other related surnames in my family are Heim, Sporrer, Weider, Weber, and Vollmer. These families settled in the Louisville, Kentucky area. However, it is unclear whether they lived in another U.S. city before moving to Louisville.They are believed to have emigrated from Germany in the 1860's. It is unclear which port they entered the U.S. through. The Zimmerer's are from the Baden, Baden area. It is possible in the old country that the name was Zimmer and the second 'er' was added later. The others also lived in the Black Forest area and the Alsace-Lorraine region of Germany. |
