| Daniel Hamilton, veteran of the War of 1812 as a member of Piper's Riflemen of the Berlin (PA) Rifle Company, arrived in Southwestern Pennsylvania between January of 1815 and March of 1819. He and his wife Elisabeth Gardner settled in the West Brownville area (East Bethlehem Township)of Washington County, where many of their descendants remain nearby today. The children of Daniel and Elisabeth Hamilton were: 1. John, b. February, 1806 probably in Dauphin Co., PA. and d. June, 1841 in Fayette Co., Pa. John, a blacksmith, married Sarah Parker and had a family of 8 children, 5 of whom survived to adulthood. Sarah was b. February 1812, probably in Fayette Co., PA, where she d. March, 1893, never having remarried after John's death. 2. Lenard, b. between 1806 and 1810, probably in Somerset Co. PA, and d ?. Lenard was "stolen by Indians while in dresses", probably between the time of the census enumeration in 1810 and 1815 in Somerset Co. 3. Elizabeth --about whom nothing further is known. 4. Susanna, b. July 1814 in Somerset Co., PA., and d. ? Nothing further is known. 5. Nancy, b. March, 1819 in Washington Co., PA., and d. February 1920 Washington Co., PA. Nancy married (1) ? Craven, and (2) James Gamble/Gamielle; who died while serving with the Union Army during the Civil War. Nancy gave birth to 9 children, with at least 7 of them surviving to adulthood. James Gamielle was the father of at least 7, if not all, of Nancy's children.
