From a funeral notice clipping from a Florence, Colorado newspaper given to me by Mildred (Logan) Preston:
"MRS. CHRISTINA CATHERINE DEXTER, AGED FLORENCE RESIDENT DIES LATE MONDAY, FUNERAL WEDNESDAY P.M.
Christina Catherine Dexter, 88, died at her home in Florence, Monday eventing at 7:27, following an illness of one week from apoplexy.
Mrs. Dexter came to Florence 33 years, 10 months and 15 days before her death and is well known and has a wide circle of friends in Florence.
Mrs. Dexter was born May 24, 1843 in New York City. She came to Colorade 38 years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Dexter.
She was an active member of the Presbyterian church.
She is survived by three daughters Mrs. Mary Louise Davie of American Falls, Idaho, Mrs. Myrtie Jean Logan of Hayward California, and Mrs. Leona Maude Seneker of Florence, two sons, William R. Dexter of Florence and Roy Eli Dexter of Seattle, Washington. One daughter, Mrs. Lina Blanche Tanner preceded her mother in death.
Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home.
Rev. James H. Burchfiedl of the Presbyterian church will have charge of the service. Burial will be in the Union Highland cemetery. Per a handwritten note from Aunt Leona - she states that Catherine Kemp was born in Albny New York in 1843.
We also have information that she was born in New York. On her marriage license it states NY. But with information obtained by Nellie Moore in Oregon, she feels that Christina was born in England and as an infant came to the United States. Her parents wanted her to be born in the US, so they had another birth certificate made stating so. Per the funeral notice of Christina Catherine Kemp Dexter.
