  • FORT ZUMWALT - 1798 (26 KB)
First hewn log house built north of the Missouri River, was built by Jacob Zumwalt as early as 1798, probably at the advice of his friend Daniel Boone. The log house served as a fort then, and later in the War of 1812. It was located one mile south of the present city of O'Fallon. This picture is from the 1956 Centennial Book of O'Fallon, Mo.
